Member Spotlight: Emma

Making Connections and Impact with Civitan

At Civitan, our members are the heartbeat of everything we do. This month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Emma, who joined our club in January 2020 and has been an inspiring presence ever since.

After her time with the Raleigh Jaycees, Emma was looking for a new young professionals’ group where she could continue giving back, meet new people, and have some fun along the way.

She found all that—and more—with Civitan. “I joined Civitan to make new connections and to serve my community while having fun in the process.”

During those first months in COVID, Emma stayed connected with Civitan. While many events were cancelled during those months, members were still connected through virtual meetings and finding ways to have fun safely.

Serving and Celebrating Together

Emma is especially passionate about addressing food insecurity, and she regularly volunteers at both the Raleigh and Durham Food Banks. Her commitment to ensuring no one goes hungry in our community is both inspiring and impactful. She knows that food insecurity can happen to anyone— that’s why she is so passionate about volunteering with the food banks—so no one in the Triangle goes hungry.

While service is at the core of her Civitan experience, Emma also values the friendships and memories made through club socials. From movie nights and brunch bunch to cheering on the team at Durham Bulls games, Emma makes the most of every opportunity to connect with fellow members.

Emma is especially proud of Civitan’s work with the special needs community—a cause close to her heart. She’s played a role in events like the Miracle League and is looking forward to our upcoming Special Olympics volunteer initiatives.

Why Civitan?

Whether Emma’s packing food, cleaning up a park, or catching up with friends at a social, Emma embodies the spirit of what it means to be a Civitan. We are so grateful to have such a caring and welcoming presence in our club!
